Thomas Wayne Burgin

Thomas Wayne Burgin, 75, of Edgewood, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood. He was born on November 12, 1947, in Edgewood, the son of Burdette and Pauline (Bottelman) Burgin. Tom was raised in the Edgewood area and was a 1966 graduate of Edgewood High School. He served honorably in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970.

On June 5, 1971, Tom was united in marriage to Lynda Krapfl at the Congregational Church in Edgewood. Two sons were born to this union. Tom farmed north of Edgewood for many years. He also worked for Kendrick Forest Products and did some road construction. Tom enjoyed farming with his Allis-Chalmers tractors. He liked hunting for morel mushrooms and deer hunting. Tom’s two dogs, Tucker and Trouble, were special to him. Above all else, Tom loved his family and spending time with them.

Survivors include his son, Tim (Jody) Burgin of Edgewood; daughter-in-law, Jodi Burgin of Edgewood; seven grandchildren, Holly, Josh, Nick, Dakota, Sammy, Alley, and Alivia; eight great-grandchildren; three siblings, Emma (Jerald) Larson of Elkader, Debra White of Edgewood, and Jim (Jamie) Burgin of Edgewood; and many nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lynda in 2022; his son, Dean Burgin in 2014; and brother-in-law, Nelson White.
