Velma Mae Zebuhr, 95, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2025, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood. She was born on May 24, 1930, in Manchester, the daughter of Frank and Ida (Manson) Maurer. She grew up in the area and graduated from Delhi High School in 1947.
On June 11, 1950, Velma was united in marriage to William Zebuhr at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Delaware. Together they raised their five children until William’s death on May 8, 1994.
Velma was a devoted homemaker and spent more than 30 years caring for children as a daycare provider. She enjoyed bowling, cheering on the Cubs and the Hawkeyes, working on Bible word search books, and collecting cardinals and angels. Velma especially cherished time with her family and her church community, where she was a very involved and active in her faith.
Survivors include her children, Craig (Cindy) Zebuhr of Manchester, Cheryl Christinson of Manchester, Scott (Kris) Zebuhr of Manchester, and Curt (Christina) Zebuhr of Cedar Rapids; her nine grandchildren, Ryan (Sarah Simpson) Zebuhr, Kyle (Sara) Zebuhr, Caden and Cayli Christinson, Jake Zebuhr, Jared (Amanda) Zebuhr, Morgan (Dustin) Elgersma, Paige (David) Bradford, and Taylor Zebuhr; eight great-grandchildren, Hazel, Nora, Rylee, Amaya, Laynie, Josslyn, Leah, and Amelia.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; son, Barry Zebuhr; a granddaughter-in-law, Jen Zebuhr; her siblings, Marian (Melvin) Ondler and Marvin (Ruth) Maurer.
