Wade Lamar Welcher, 33, of Ankeny, Iowa, formerly of Manchester, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2020, at his home in Ankeny. He was born on January 3, 1987, in Manchester, the son of Larry Welcher and Loretta (Houlihan) Welcher.
Wade went to St. Mary’s Catholic School and West Delaware schools, all in Manchester, graduating from West Delaware High School in 2005. He then attended Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge before transferring to and graduating from Wartburg College in Waverly in 2010. Wade worked as a shift supervisor at EMCO Enterprises in Des Moines.
Wade enjoyed cheering on the New York Yankees and San Francisco 49ers and following West Delaware High School wrestling and football. He loved ESPN and talking sports as well as going to the gym. Wade cherished family time and being with his nieces and nephews. He was always smiling.
Wade is survived by his parents, Loretta Welcher of Manchester and Larry (Denice) Welcher of Waterloo; five siblings, Matt (Madi) Welcher of Dundee, Travis Welcher of Manchester; Brett (Mikki) Welcher of Manchester, Brad (Amy) Welcher of Ankeny, and Mary Jo (Travis Olson) Welcher of Manchester; his paternal grandfather, Bill Welcher of Manchester; fourteen nieces and nephews, Bryce, Reese, Paetyn, Addesyn, Vada, Karsyn, Kinley, Bennett, Grant, Grace, Rayleigh, Jackson, Dominic, and Kiarra; and many aunts and uncles.
Wade was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Donna Jean Welcher; his maternal grandparents, Hap and Imogene Houlihan; a niece, Emma Welcher; and uncles, Terry Houlihan and Scott Welcher.
