Winford "Bill" Pettit

Winford “Bill” Pettit, 84, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2020, at the Guttenberg Care Center in Guttenberg. He was born on  October 23, 1936, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, the son of Ladd and Nancy (Davis) Pettit. Bill was raised and educated in South Carolina.

On December 9, 1961, Bill was united in marriage to Dorothy Stone in Strawberry Point. Three children were born to this union. The family resided in Strawberry Point and Bill worked for Seedorff Masonry for many years.

Bill enjoyed playing his guitar and singing. He was involved with the Backbone Bluegrass Festival for many years. Bill loved his family and especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his three children, Linda Jesse of Denver, Iowa, Lisa Timmerman of Strawberry Point, and Ladd Pettit of Cross Plains, Wisconsin; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy in 2010; and three siblings.

Because of COVID-19 concerns and the Governor’s proclamation, masks are required at the funeral home.
