Doreen Gwyneth (Davies) Bond

Doreen G. Bond, 93, of Colesburg, Iowa, died at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital in Guttenberg, on Monday, August 8, 2016.  She was born on January 10, 1923, in Rudry, Wales.  Doreen was raised and educated in Wales, and served in the Woman Auxiliary Air Force of the United Kingdom for four years.

While in the military she met Lloyd “Bud” Bond and they were united in marriage on June 9, 1945.  Together they lived in Colesburg.   Doreen was a homemaker, worked for Ertl’s, and did daycare.

Doreen loved her family and enjoyed reading, puzzles, knitting, cats, and bird watching.

Survivors include her children, Gary Bond and Linda (Dan) Ash, all of Colesburg, Jeffrey Bond of Iowa City, and Gina Clute of Colesburg; 25 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Doreen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd Bond on January 28, 2001; two daughters, Sandra Sprague and Gayla Bissell; three grandchildren, Jason Ash Jade Bissell, and Dustin Bissell; three siblings, Jack Davies, Nancy Harris, and Mary Bain; and two sons-in-law, Curtis Bissell and Harold Sprague.
