Dorothy May (McComb) Grawe

Dorothy May McComb Grawe, 93, of Independence, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at Lexington Estates in Independence.  She was born on December 27, 1923, in rural Peosta, the daughter of Clifford Jay and Helen Elizabeth (Rosser) McComb.  Dorothy graduated from East Waterloo High School, Waterloo, Iowa, with the class of 1941.  She then attended and graduated from Dickinson Secretarial School in Waterloo.  Dorothy worked in accounting for many years and for the Willard General Hospital in Manchester for ten years.

On December 17, 1946, Dorothy was united in marriage to James E. Grawe in Waterloo.  The couple farmed together for many years.

Survivors include her cousins, James (Jean) Zarifis of Waterloo, and Frank (Ann) Zarifis of Cedar Rapids.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, James Grawe, on December 12, 2012.
