Eugene R. Perrinjaquet

April 23, 1930 ~ March 30, 2017 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Eugene R. Perrinjaquet, 86, of Manchester, Iowa, formerly of Edgewood, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.  He was born on April 23, 1930, in Edgewood, the son of Marcel and Carrie Ann (Krieg) Perrinjaquet.  At a very young age, Gene and his sister Virginia, delivered milk in their little red wagon in Edgewood for their family’s business, Perrinjaquet Dairy.  They were nominated to go to New York City to be honored as the youngest milk haulers in the United States. Gene’s father died when he was in high school and Gene had to attend school and run the family farm.  Gene graduated from Edgewood High School in 1947.

On March 16, 1950, Gene was united in marriage to Ramona Kuhlman at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.  Two children were born to this union.  The couple owned and operated their own dairy farm, milking cows for over 52 years.  Gene was also a substitute mail hauler.  The couple retired from farming and moved to Manchester in 1997.

Gene was a member of the Community Congregational Church.  He was an avid Dallas Cowboy and Iowa Hawkeye fan.  Gene and Ramona volunteered for many years for Camp Courageous and the Rec Center in Manchester.  Gene cherished his family and loved spending time with them.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Ramona Perrinjaquet of Manchester; his son, Brad (Elaine) Perrinjaquet of Edgewood; his daughter, Denise (Randy) Stone of Manchester; five grandchildren, Katie (Adam) Hageman, Emily (Matt) Scherbring, Elizabeth Brooks, Rob (Tiffany) Perrinjaquet, and Rachael (Kei) Engel; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Williams of Edgewood, Shirley (William) Meisner of Anamosa, and Virginia Waco of Pacific Pallisades, California; one brother-in-law, Keith Callies of Manchester; a special nephew, Dick Holthaus of Urbandale; and several other nieces and nephews.
