George Jeffry "Jeff" Childers

George Jeffry "Jeff" Childers, 65, of Manchester, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at the Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids.  He was born on March 9, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of George and Thelma (Larkin) Childers.   Jeff  was raised and educated in the area, and was a 1969 graduate from Southeastern High School in Detroit.

Jeff served in the U.S. Army for six years and was stationed in Germany.  He then attended the University of Utah.  On January 30, 1984, Jeff was united in marriage to Mary Louise Titus in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were sealed in the Chicago, Illinois Latter-Day Saint Temple on February 19, 1994. Nine children were born to this union.  Together they lived in Salt Lake City, Detroit, Atlanta, and Iowa, until coming to Manchester a year ago.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Louise  Childers of Manchester; seven children, Elise, Joseph, Rebekah, Sarah, Christina, George, and Jessica; one grandson, Noah;  four siblings,Theda Everett, Denice Childers, Enid Childers, and Adwoa Muwzea; four nieces, Antoinette Everett, Kathalen Everett, Michelle Boraz, and Brande Everett; and two great-nieces, Rachel Boraz and Melena Dawn Quick.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents; and two children, Rachael and Isaac.
