Lowell Jefferson "Jeff" Elledge

Lowell Jefferson “Jeff” Elledge, 91, of Colesburg, Iowa, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2017, at Regional Medical Center in Manchester. He was born on October 7, 1925, in Elkport, the son of Bert Andrew and Jessie Mae (Harbaugh) Elledge. Lowell was raised in the Colesburg area, graduating from Colesburg High School in 1944.

On July 21, 1944, Lowell joined the U.S. Army and served honorably in World War II as a member of the 101st Airborne, Screaming Eagles. Following discharge, on August 28, 1948, Lowell was united in marriage to Marcella Hyde. The couple resided in Colesburg. Three children were born to this union. Marcella passed away on January 13, 1969. On July 25, 1979, Lowell married Beatrice Herington. Beatrice passed away on February 23, 2014.

Lowell worked for John Deere in Dubuque for 25 years, eventually reaching supervisor status. He was an avid hunter, trapper, and fisherman. He also enjoyed playing baseball, earning an All-State designation as a catcher. Lowell attended Edgewood Bible Church for more than 65 years. He loved spending time with family and was proud of his military service.

Survivors include his children, Kurt (Julie) Elledge of Davenport, Washington, and Kandy (Bob) Knepper of Parker, Colorado; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bert Elledge, Jr., of Edgewood.

Lowell was preceded in death by his two wives; one daughter, Kathy Riniker; a grandson, Ryan Elledge; his parents; and nine siblings.
