Raymond J. “Jack” Marbach, 78, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2016, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. He was born on April 23, 1938, in Maquoketa, the son of Joseph and Marie (Ahern) Marbach. Ray was a graduate of St. Paul Catholic High School in Worthington.
On October 8, 1959, Ray was united in marriage to Janet Mary Becker in Hopkinton. Five children were born to this union. After their marriage, the family lived near Worthington until 1974 when they moved to the Greeley area. Ray worked as an appraiser for the Delaware County Assessor’s office for many years.
Ray was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He was proud of being a member of the Knights of Columbus, attaining the 4th Degree Knight. Ray enjoyed farming and playing cards at the Legion.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Janet of Manchester; his five children, Jerry (Nancy) Marbach of Manchester, Karen (Dennis) Steffensmeier of Dyersville, Phyllis (John) Quinn of St. Joseph, Missouri, Joe (Janice) Marbach of Ryan, and Tom (Tammy) Marbach of Worthington; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Ronald (Marjean) Marbach of Dyersville; and one sister, Kathleen (Allan) White of Worthington.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; and a son-in-law, Ken Noethe.
