Loretta Frances (Quint) Vaske

Loretta Frances Vaske, 90, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2016, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.  She was born on November 16, 1925,  in Worthington, the daughter of  Joseph and Margaret (Bonert) Quint.  Loretta was raised and educated in the Worthington area.

On November 23, 1948, Loretta was united in marriage to Arthur "Art" Vaske at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Ryan.  Ten children were born to this union.  Together they farmed in the Ryan area until 1959 when they moved to the Dundee area to farm.  The couple moved to Manchester in 1998.  Art passed away on January 20, 2007. Loretta continued to reside in Manchester and had resided at the Good Neighbor Home since August 2012.

Loretta was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.  She enjoyed gardening, quilting, cooking, and playing cards.  Most recently she enjoyed playing Bingo and volleyball at the Good Neighbor Home.  Loretta loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.  

Survivors include her eight children, Janice (Jeff) Bahl of Dubuque, Joyce (Allen) Burkle of Ryan, Alan (Felicia) Vaske of Dundee, Mark (Natalie) Vaske of Manchester, Lori (Joe) Hoeger of Hopkinton, Dean (Julia) Vaske of Manchester, Lois (Robert) Goedken of Dundee, and Lisa Monaghan of Ryan; 28 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; her three siblings, Clarence Quint and  Vernon Quint both of Manchester, and Catherine (John) McQuillen of Marion; two sisters-in-law, Mary Jo Quint of Ryan and Elaine Vaske of Strawberry Point; and many nieces and nephews.

Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; twin sons, John and Joseph, in infancy; her parents; her son-in-law, Mark Monaghan; her sister, Mary Vaske; her brothers, Lawrence and Sylvester Quint; two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Quint and Catherine Quint; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Vaske.
