Mildred Maxine (Way) Schmock

Mildred Maxine Schmock, 94, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2016, at her home in rural Strawberry Point.  She was born on November 12, 1921, in Strawberry Point, the daughter of Glen and Laura (McClane) Way.  Mildred was raised and educated in the Strawberry Point area.

On January 17, 1958, Mildred was united in marriage to Vernon B. Schmock in Manchester.  Two children were born to this union. The couple farmed together until retiring in 1985.  Vernon passed away in 2010.

Mildred was a farm wife and dedicated mother.  She loved gardening. She also enjoyed watching birds, butterflies, and other wild life.  Mildred absolutely loved orange tabby kittens.

Survivors include two children, Suzy (Tom) Tibbott and Steve (Rose) Schmock, all of Manchester; one step-grandson, Jordan (special friend, Emily Beltran) Mangold of Des Moines; and two brothers, Calvin Way of Independence, and Clair Way of Cedar Rapids.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon, on December 26, 2010; and one step-grandson, Michael Mangold.
