Milo Melvin Letts, 80, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2017, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He was born on December 24, 1936, in Manchester, the son of Edward and Chrissie (Hines) Letts.
On May 24, 1963, Milo was united in marriage to Leona Jean Presley in Galena, Illinois. They resided in the Manchester area. Milo was a truck driver and also worked at the Manchester Hide Service. For nearly thirty years, Milo and Leona owned and operated Onie’s Wooden Nickel in Manchester. Leona passed away on December 23, 2004.
Milo loved hunting, fishing, traveling, and playing pool. He liked going to auctions, garage sales, and flea markets. Milo enjoyed taking care of his mules. He never knew a stranger and loved spending time with friends and his family.
Survivors include his five children, Paul (Terry) Letts of Center Point, Michelle (Tom Amthauer) Letts, Kim (special friend, Miguel Pena) Wilson, Julie (Danny) Bolsinger, and Mike (Marge) Letts all of Manchester; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one brother, Bill Letts of Manchester; two sisters-in-law, Janet Letts of Greeley and Jacque Letts of Winthrop; lifelong friend, Don Sickles; and his three mules, Fanny Mae, Maudie Mae, and Gilbert.
Milo was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Leona Letts; a son-in-law, Dennis Wilson; three brothers, Clyde, Don, and Butch Letts; and a sister-in-law, Sherri Letts.
