Milton Ross Champney

December 19, 1928 ~ September 22, 2016 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Milton R. Champney, 87, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2016, at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester.  He was born on December 19, 1928, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Frederick and June Nettie (McCune) Rose.  Milton graduated from Armstrong High School in 1948 and then attended college for two years in Estherville. He served honorably in the United States Army from 1951-53.

On August 24, 1950, Milton was united in marriage to Johannah Dolf in Mt. Carmel, Illinois.  Three children were born to this union.  Milton worked at Iowa Electric and then at a gas station.  He then worked for over 27 years for a Chevrolet dealership as a mechanic.  Milton also worked as a diesel truck mechanic in Illinois before becoming a maintenance supervisor for ACCO.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Johannah Champney, of Manchester; his three daughters, Deborah (Dan) Vigdal of Eagan, Minnesota, Colleen (Curt) Meyer of Manchester, and Cindy (Paul) Wang of Palatine, Illinois; six grandchildren, Angie Meyer, Ben Vigdal, Heather Kruger, Josh Vigdal, Megan Wang, and Matt Wang; and two great-grandchildren, Riddick and Maddox Kruger; a brother-in-law, Dwight (Freda) Dolf of Armstrong; and many nieces and nephews.

Milton was preceded in death by his parents; his adoptive father, Cecil Champney; three brothers; and two sisters.
